Guenevere is Luke's oldest sister, and for the first time this October she was permitted to come with her dad and I to visit children at the hospital and hand out toys from the Annual New Toy Drive. She had a wonderful time playing with the little patients in the clinic, talking to the older ones, and getting in a some playtime with them. While talking to one of the kids Guenevere discovered he was missing one of the essentials of modern childhood --- a Gameboy.
Many of our kids are fortunate to have Gameboys; some of them have several because they keep getting the "advanced" versions. So it struck Guenevere that a child who spent many hours in a clinic receiving chemotherapy, or days in a hospital room, had no Gameboy to pass the time. She came away from her experience wanting to buy a Gameboy for every kid at the hospital that didn't have one.
That's quite a goal! So, Guenevere came up with an idea --- kids who are done with their older version Gameboys and game cartridges could donate them to LNF, and we could get them to the kids at hospitals that don't own a Gameboy.
So, as the Holidays approach and kids start making their lists for Santa please make a note --- if they've asked for a new Gameboy to replace last year's model, please donate the old Gameboy and any games you are done with to Guenevere at the Luke Neuhedel Foundation, and she will be sure they receive a great new home.
